TCL ACTIVITY
TCL research focuses on three following activities:
- Medium-term projects about equipment for access networks
in public environment (cellular networks of next
generations, hot spots) or private environment (broadband wireless, wireless
LAN, solutions for private networks with quality of
service, ad
hoc networks).
- Advanced research in underlying technologies:
digital communications (modulation, channel coding, detection,
equalisation, etc.), protocols (multiple access protocols,
management of transmission errors, resource allocation,
"hand-over", etc.), implementation (hardware and
software architecture, related technologies, software
radio, etc.).
- New R&D activities related to sustainable energies with
the goal to convert and convey energy with least yielded
losses, by joining skills from information technology (decentralised
networks, security) and applied physics (power electronics,
thermal design). The final goal is to produce high-end new
technologies move from an all-oil world to an oil-free
world.
- Support to business with demonstration and adaptation of
products that were first designed for Japanese market in
order to fit European requirements

These
activities include various aspects such as:
- Theoretical studies and simulations.
- Architecture and design of systems for future generations
of products.
- Contribution to standardisation: ITE-TCL takes an extensive
part in standard bodies' work that are active in its fields of expertise
(ITU, 3GPP, ETSI, etc.).
- Development of demonstrators.
- Development of hardware and software tools
FTTH networks
